Mouthphone

The Mouthphone is a device that replaces headphones in portable music players seen in the public spaces. As electronic miniaturization gets developed, people are allowed to be less and less connected to their environment while removing the signs of technologies allowing that escape.
The Mouthphone reflects on that reality by ironically making a listening practice visible. Composed of an amplificator which output is a padded contact microphone, the piece functions around bone conduction properties. Using the Mouthphone, one has to hold the interface in their closed mouth to be able to hear the sound waves resonate from the contact mic resonator throught the teeth, up to the skull to reach the inner ear.
The prototype was presented with 3 condom-like latex protectors.
